GOT HEALTHY HAIR??? Drink Milk ...

Milk contains nutrients and vitamins that promote growth and healthy hair, and may slow hair loss. Hair can be cared for internally by drinking milk regularly. Milk contains calcium, protein, vitamin D, vitamin A, vitamin B, and many more. All these vitamins are known to support healthy hair growth. Calcium is important for keratinization, a hair growth process. Calcium absorption into the body produces keratin, keratin is one of the main components of hair, skin and nails. Milk contains vitamin B12 and B6, which help in hair growth. Hair loss indicates there is a vitamin D deficiency.

Add a glass of milk to your diet and you will enjoy having healthy hair !

Healthy Hair Tips

To some of you may sound "Yucky, Icky, Nasty" but the truth is that if you want healthy and silky hair DO NOT wash it daily. If you wash it daily you are depriving your scalp of its essential oils. Your hair becomes brittle and shampoo might dry your scalp. You also want to avoid using too many styling hair products, remember that there are lots of chemicals in products unless you use natural or organic. Your hair reflects your personality but it also reflects your general health, so healthy eating is an important key. The most important thing is to not brush often, even worse if you brush when wet, if you brush vigorously you are hair is more prone to breaking and hard brushing tends to scratch your scalp. Don't forget to keep scheduled appointments with your hairstylist to maintain your hair free of split-ends.

How To Choose A Blow Dryer ...

There's many things you have to consider when choosing a blow dryer. Watts are important, the higher the wattage, the more powerful the heat and air flow will be. A blow dryer with adjustments like a variable speed and heat control is always a good buy. Weight is also important, you don't want your wrist and hands hurting before even able to style your hair. Hair dryers can range from $20.00 to $150.00, but you can surely buy something in between and get a dryer with good features.

This is what I bought a few months ago, Infiniti Professional Tourmaline Ionic Styler Hair Dryer by Conair

It has 1875 watts, ionic technology to reduce frizz and provides manageability. Tourmaline Ceramic technology helps smooth the cuticle layer, creating silky, shiny hair. Has three heat and two speed settings and it also includes a diffuser for curly and wavy styles, and a concentrator for pinpoint styling. Oh, and it has a retractable cord, so, no more tangled cords !!!

I bought mine at Bed, Bath, and Beyond for $34.99+tax.

TURN UP THE HEAT !!!

Beyond the Zone Pro Formula "TURN UP THE HEAT"

Heat Protection Spray

ALWAYS, protect your hair from the heat ! I use this spray only when I blow dry my hair. I spray a little bit when my hair is still damp, then I blow dry it. Hair can get damaged by straightening irons, hot rollers, curling irons, crimpers, blow dryers and other hot styling tools. You can also use shampoos, conditioners, and other hair products that have a built in UV ray protector. I bought this little spray bottle for $2.99+tax at Sally's Beauty Supply store.

How Often Should You Brush Your Hair ?

There is an old myth that says that you should brush as much as 100 times in one day. Can you believe that ? Most experts now recommend brushing your hair only to style it or detangle. Brushing your hair a lot will cause your hair to break and in result give you split ends. It's essential to buy your hair brush depending on your hair type. The way you brush your hair will affect it and cause damage to it. So don't brush as often and brush carefully, you can start from the bottom and work your way up. If you brush from root to tip may cause you to damage it if you have it tangled. There are many good hair detanglers in the market that you can use to prevent hair damage, I personally use "Pantene Hair Detangler".

What shampoos have you used ???

I've been asked many times, what shampoo do I use ??? There is no secret, I use regular shampoo, what brand ??? "Pantene" . Yes, I have used many other product brands throughout the years. Of course when I was a baby, my mom probably used Johnson's Baby Shampoo . From the ones that I remember, here are some I've used:

Thermasilk, which I loved but unfortunately, I couldn't find it at the store anymore.

Herbal Essences,  I love all the different fruity smells.

Suave, my mom used to buy this when I was a little girl.

Garnier Fructis, this is a really good shampoo, I liked it because it will leave my hair very soft and manageable.

Head & Shoulders, all of a sudden I started having scalp dryness, and this shampoo helped alot !

I'm pretty sure my "shampoo list" will keep growing, because it's recommended to change shampoo every 3 sets of bottles. A new shampoo will break down buildup and the new conditioner will deposit new elements to layers of the hair shaft. Plus, that way you will not get bored of the same smell all the time, if you have a new shampoo and conditioner you can enjoy a new smell too !!!

Even Guys Have Hair Issues

Look what I found, a hair poem !!!

Grand-stranding

With little success at hair retention
I've one strand left of small dimension
Scalped this way, I'm not enthralled
One-stranded now, I'm follicle-y bald

It's hair raising to feel alone and bereft
Deserted by all it's brothers who left
This ordeal has the hair standing there pining
Atop my bald scalp, so hairless-ly shining

The lonesome strand just keeps on grieving
Missing its mates, since their mass leaving
So soulful and sad, it can't seem to find
On the scalp of this lad, a hair-piece of mind

My dome once covered with hair-filled density
Has no foreseeable future-tense-ity
For so loyally standing hair-ly at hand
I'll always be grateful to that one last grand strand

Welcome to my Blog !

I would like to welcome you to my blog, here you will find the most interesting things about hair, how-to's, hair accessories, and much more. I want to start by introducing myself, my name is Crisel, I live in California, have two beautiful boys (3 and 6 year old) and a loving husband. I have had long hair most of my life, there have been only a few times when I have cut my hair, most of the time I just trim it to keep it healthy looking. I have donated my hair in the past, to "Locks of Love" . I strongly believe that some of us are fortunate enough to grow beautiful hair, why not donate it for a good cause knowing that you will make someone feel happy !!! I am grateful for what I have, therefore I want someone else to feel the same gratitude ...
